Heres an old thread let me know if it works or not...

Yeah the last time it ran, it pulled hard and strong. It ran good until this one day i came home from work, parked it in the driveway. When it turned night time, i went out to put it in the garage and it just didn't want to start anymore... This is my first major problem..

hmm, I'm actually quite interested in this.
wish I had $5k though.
Suggestion, I know you might hate it, but did you take it to a Toyota service department with a certified TRD Tech?
I dunno bout where you are, but sometimes it's just like $100 and they'll dig in to the engine and externals to check for the "problem."
Cheaper than buying another open circuit or major parts.:brickknoc

Cheaper than buying another open circuit or major parts.:brickknocper hour. you have to pay the dealerships hourly rate.

I know that, but it's a specific inspection.
I forgot what the guy told me, if they even still do it, but there's an electrical and there's aftermarket toyota "something" inspection that's for the engine.
Now if you want anything done to what they find, THEN it's an hourly rate. That can hurt.
Just tryin to give him the loopholes to work with.
Now if your local dealership doesn't do that, or is willing to work with you like that, then forget it. Cause they're always lookin for the almighty dollar anyway.

Yeah as of right now, it's still in my garage collecting dust. One of my cousin came by to check it out, did a couple of diagnostics and he said it could be my ecu??? Im not sure if i wanna go out and buy another part just to test it... Plus these damn 5vz parts are so hard to find in a manual transmission..

Yea I can understand. When I worked for Daytona Mazda, we had a trade in, but it had some problem with it (forgot) and it had the 5vz engine. Spent almost a week just getting parts, AND we were going though Toyota of Daytona. Rough.
The ECU swap might get some life in it. Without that working properly it won't stay cranked, for some odd reason
Honestly, I would take it off your hands, love tinkering around, but no extra cash. At least not that much.

Your close but thanks for playing. Almost all dealers charge an upfront one hour of diagnostic just to get an idea of what could be wrong with the vehicle so they can then go to the service advisor later on with a better idea on what they need flat rate wise to fix the vehicle. At my shop we charge an hour just to hook the computer up to see what issues are goin on with the vehicle we then check with warranty or the books if its not warranty to see how much the pay is for whatever job it is to fix the problem.

Wow that's dealz right thurr. If this truck was in Honolulu, HI it would be gone.
Sounds like the problem I had with my 1999 SR5 2WD V6.
Toyota Service had it for 3 weeks. No one could figure out the problem. They gave me a new Subaru Impreza as a loaner so I didn't care how long it took. Going on the 3rd week, I get the call to pick up the truck.
The service writer said the mechanic could not find anything that would cause it to not start. All the mechanic did was change oil and the truck started right up. I did not believe it, so I talked to the tech and that's basically what he did. Weird 5hit, but true.
So try changing your oil :waytogo: Doesn't make sense, but why not right:shrug:
If it works, you can PayPal me my troubleshooting fee :headbang:
