Re: alternative to BFG A/T
Toyo A/T, Nitto Terra Grappler, Bridgestone Dueler Revo A/T, General Grabber A/T 2, they are all good tires.

The BFG is by far the best. I've tried alot of the others. The BFG's wear better, handle better, sound better over time, and they work great off road.
PS: I used to be a BFG rep, so I may be biased (but I have tried alot of the other brands and kicked myself over and over, every time I "saved alittle money" on tirs!!!)
I have had 2 sets of BFG a/t 's on my truck and have really liked them a lot. My father, brother, and I all bought bridgestone duelers around the same time and none of them lasted or rode as well and were driven easily and rotated regularly. Some people have had better experiences with bridgstone duelers. I have heard good things about the firestone destination a/t and the sport king a/t (which looks very similar to the BFG). Hope this helps.
The only tires I have personal experience with are the Bridgestone Duellers, which highly sucked and only lasted 25K and the BFG A/T. I have 15K on the BFG and they are wearing way better than the Bridgestone did.
I've seen a few people here with the Definitly Dakota A/T from Pepboys. I think they run about half the cost of the BFG's. But like the saying goes, you get what you pay for....
I have cooper st's and love them only had them for about 10k but still look brand new. They are beefier then bfg's in my opinion and cheaper. Also general grabber at's are much cheaper then most and look way better than the nitto's or the bridgestone's. Good luck i always go thru this decision banging my head.
thanks every1 for your input, I think I'm gonna just have to find a way to keep my bfg's.
**try BIG-O tires...i have an '04 double and put on its first set of big-o AT's at about 55k miles, im still running that set and im at 117k miles. you do the math. and i just went to get a new set and they told me i still had about 3 to 5k left on them. shweet!! i had nothing but big-o on my 89 runner, im a big big-o fan, no pun intended. you got plenty in your area. an added plus for me is that i go to deming, new mexico a few times a year and believe it or not, theres a big-o there and their service there is just as good as it is in my home town, if not better. they can get you any other tire you want too.
